True love?

The most famous woman in Spain, the fabulously wealthy 85-year-old Duchess of Alba, takes a 60-year-old husband.

What is there to say about this age-gap relationship?

  1. He's a non-starter for me. Trying to pull off the effortlessly suave & superior, waving airily. But hell, if she is happy, cool.
The kids were quite pissed over exactly where all the money was going, but they seem to have worked that out. That part is sad to me. ~Mary

  2. I read your article in AARP and found it to be very encouraging. I am currently 44 and am seeing a 27 y/o man. The age difference did intimidate me, but after reading the article, I know that it can work out if we both want it to.
BTW- Happy Birthday, one day early, to Michael! I hope it is a good one. =)

  3. as long as it works for them, that's all that should matter. I understand the money thing but love shouldn't be based on money. I am 28 years older than my man--and trust me, he has taught me as much or more than I could ever teach him. I hope the best for the Duchess and her new husband...just as all of us--may they laugh, learn, love throughout their life together

    happy late birthday Michael!

  4. Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was a lovely day, with a five-mile hike around a central Maryland mountain with a 63-year-old woman, and that's the same woman who baked a sour-cream apple pie for the occasion. I'm a fortunate 47.
